New Learnings ~ for a self taught crafter

Though I have done needle work for some 35+ years, I never could get the hang of knitting. My tension would always be so uneven that I finally gave up long, long ago.
Recently, I decided I was going to learn how. Now I need another hobby like I need a hole in my head, but learn it I did.
Tell me what you think of some of my first pieces....

Lemongrass cowl + knit plus crochet with vintage
buttons in a soft chunky lambs wool blend

fingerless gloves in a sparkly ruby yarn

Audrey, as you know, I love the green knitted cowl. It's so neat that you were able to knit and use your grandmother's buttons as embellishment.
Cute gloves too!

I love the cowl -- looks like you figured out tension! (All I can knit is washcloths...largely for that reason.) Fuzzy gloves are cute too - did you knit in the round, or knit them flat and sew a seam?
